A callback to dandy aesthetics: a world full of gentlemen’s clubs, aged whiskey, tailored suits and eccentric details. This is the perfect setting for Tagliatore spring summer 2018 creations.
Making an extremely pure DNA. Revealing his own soul, to create suits with a strong connection to his history, his land, his roots. Pino Lerario has made the family business a model of excellence in Made in Italy production. Since 1999, a small city in southern Italy, Martina Franca, has cradled a brand that has invested everything on the sartorial tradition and on the workers who live there.
If we had to describe Tagliatore style in three adjectives, there would be no doubt:
Elegant: because of the sartorial design of blazers and tuxedos.
Glamour: because of the innovation in fabrics. A drawing, a painting or just a simple line become a palette from which to develop creative ideas.
Dandy: because of details like metals and chains.
Spring summer 2018 collection celebrates, in every single piece, the perfect liaison between creativity and tailoring: Tagliatore reinterprets the British style and grace in a very Italian way. Jackets and suits tell a story of change and inspiration.
New fabrics create new styles that make garments’ cut different and updated. A fine balance that requires care and attention, skill and deep tailoring knowledge. Jackets have a practical linearity, designed to have a perfect and very comfortable fit. The small shoulder line and the large sleeve, trademarks of tailored jacket, are one example of that. Also, in order to make jackets and trousers fresher, in this season collection, Tagliatore uses soft fabrics, such as linen, cotton, mohair, in neutral colours strongly referring to Puglia, as the brown of the earth, the blue of the sky, the beige of pristine beaches. And then white and bleached, chalk, ivory and stone colours.
The undisputed king of spring summer 2018 is denim. The details have been studied by the millimetre, leaving no room for any improvisation. Peak lapels, “spalle insellate”, patch pockets, opened buttonholes and contrast double backstitches give to each jacket a handmade appeal. But, in this Tagliatore capsule collection, Pino Lerario brings contemporary issues to the blazer using, precisely, denim.
Tagliatore is a pioneer in conceiving a new way to wear vest, laying down a new street style. The contemporary vest becomes an essential piece for every taste and look and it gets to replace the jacket during the summer. The Tagliatore vest – in this case combined with the jacket – redefines the male physicality, slimming and lightening it thanks to a careful sense of scale. Tagliatore enriches it with a further element that comes out from the past and is then adjusted to modern times: the chain. Distinct from the rest of the outfit, this jewel is double-looped, with metal inserts and semiprecious stone spheres.
Even for spring summer 2018, the jacket has to express the purest craftsmanship of the brand. Pino Lerario, in fact, is firmly convinced that a jacket’s manufacturing includes steps that have to be compulsorily handmade, without any sewing machine. As in the case of striped jackets, which are cut slowly, to be fitted properly, as well as the pocket marking. That is because there are details that the automated process cannot guarantee and that require a meticulous work: the construction of a shoulder, the application of a sleeve with the smallest armhole or of a collar. All details that give a jacket a soul.
