Let yourself get inspired by the shades that Pantone – the American leading company in the colour industry – has selected for Spring Summer 2018: from eccentric nuances such as Lime Punch, a real fluo marker-like yellow, to soft and subtle shades such as Almost Mauve, a powder pink. But let’s check them out.
Little Boy Blu
A delicate colour, easy to combine, refined, reminiscent of spring mornings’ sky: it is the Little Boy Blue (Pantone 16-4132). A shade that matches perfectly whether with slight nuances such as brown and purple, energizing an utter aplomb look, or with vibrant and bright shades such as orange, to burst with joy the spring wardrobe. Jucca proposes this last match for the PE18 collection, which includes a wide range of dresses, blouses and cropped pants. Fabiana Filippi prefers to ride the wave of monochrome, as well as Michael Kors, who has chosen this plain colour for his backpack made of hammered leather.
Pink Lavender
Another pantone, another pastel colour. Pink Lavender (Pantone 14 - 3207) is a soft and romantic violet rose that will emphasize your femininity with its soothing sense of quiescence. It could be use in a total look, giving a touch of elegance to formal and cocktail dresses, combined with silver shimmer, creating a sensual and sophisticated contrast like in this look by Jucca, with a blouse and a lurex mini skirt, or matched with other pantone colours, like in this Etro silk scarf.
Blooming Dhalia
Pink dominates the SS18 fashion colours with all its nuances. Blooming Dhalia (Pantone 15-1520) tends to peach and has a subtle and timeless allure. Eleventy women’s collection shows this colour on chunky-knit sweaters matched with bon ton lingerie and long pleated skirts. Burberry proposes it in a reinterpretation of its iconic trench, while Salvatore Ferragamo has chosen Blooming Dhalia for a shoulder bag with golden details.
Ash Rose
In this spring-summer, pink is the undisputed star and it is definitively free from useless clichés. The last shade of pink, we will talk about, is Ash Rose (Pantone 15 – 1520). Sophisticated yet earthy, Ash Rose introduces a new dimension; transforming this muted pink shade into a more grounded hue. Try the combo with light grey and taupe or with black for sharper contrasts. Solid colour for the accessories, like the Coach shopper in hammered leather, with front metal logo.
Cherry Tomato
Would you like to start the day with a burst of colour and good humour? Choose Cherry Tomato (Pantone 17-1563), a tempestuous orangey red that exudes heat and energy. This bold shade is totally vibrant and alive. Jucca offers a total red look, combined with white accessories, for a fancy and seductive effect. Whereas, for the day, Sarte Pettegole has focused on optical effects inspired by Seventies’ fashion.
Lime Punch
Sharp and pungent, Lime Punch (Pantone 13-0550) has a striking citrus like presence. Almost fluo, this shade of yellow does not look good on anyone: if you wear it with a hint of irony and an intense tan, it can make any kind of outfit unique. Lime Punch shows its best on accessories, like this Etro women’s clutch bag, entirely made of leather or on the cute cartoon characters printed t-shirt by Love Moschino.
Meadowlark
Less flashy than Lime Punch but still full of joy and energy, Meadowlark (Pantone 13 – 0646) is a bright and vibrant yellow. Meadowlark is perfect for women with a sunny disposition and it is very present in the Manila Grace SS 2018 collection where you find it, matched with white, for cute mini dresses to wear during the day. Berwich has used Meadowlark as a solid colour for its over pants whereas Coach has preferred a metallic texture for its shoulder bag.
Chill Oil
If you think that yellow could be a bit too much, try mixing it with another fashion colour of the PE2018: the Chill Oil (Pantone 18 - 1440). Darker than red and lighter than brown, Chill Oil looks vaguely like burgundy, but with a touch of freshness. A catchy way to wear it has been shown by Manila Grace who has combined it with yellow for its maxi dress and its light and evanescent shrugs.
Almost Mauve
With its gentle petal like touch, delicate and ephemeral Almost Mauve adds a sense of nostalgia to the spring 2018 palette. It is an everlasting nuance, from day to night, of many uses and with thousand possible combinations. Almost Mauve has been chosen by many luxury brands, like Brunello Cucinelli, Fabiana Filippi, Tod's and Suolì.
